Introducing the Updated GenTent Hardware Pack
We’ve enhanced our standard hardware pack for most DuroMax open frame models!
Our new notched rubber sleeve is designed to fit both squared vertical frame posts and various blocked posts. Your hardware kit now includes a pre-assembled clamp and clip extension, along with all the components needed for the updated clamp assembly.
Step 1: Attach the Notched Rubber Sleeve to the Square Frame Posts
The carriage bolt has a squared-off head that fits securely inside the clamp body. Loosely secure the clamp knob and then tighten it to the bolt. Insert the molded ring pin to hold the telescoping extension rod in place.
Position the notched portion of the new square post rubber sleeve around the squared corner with the mouth facing out, placing the sleeve just below the electric panel. Firmly push the clamp mouth onto the frame leg below the rubber sleeve, then move it up and over the sleeve.
Tighten the clamp knob until it makes surface contact with the side of the clamp body, then turn it two more full turns for proper pressure. Each hardware box includes a marked ruler to help you set the correct clamp height.
Repeat the same setup for the remaining corners. Mount the rubber sleeve with the mouth facing out, secure the clamp over the sleeve, and ensure you do not over-tighten the clamp knobs as you finish the installation.
Step 2: Mount the Clamp on the Blocked Frame Post
The new rubber sleeve can fit some blocked panels on DuroMax models. If the recommended height is blocked by the battery shield, shift the clamp assembly up slightly where the electric panel is inset. For blocked panels, the mouth of the rubber sleeve will face inward, with the notched sleeve on the outside corner.
This slightly higher position still allow for a tool-less installation on the DuroMax models, and maintain the proper ratings and strength.
Step 3: Measure and Set the Clamps to the Right Extension Setting
To find the appropriate clamp position for the extension setting, measure the length and width from frame post to frame post, excluding wheels and handles, as we mount directly to the vertical frame posts.
Use the GenTent easy installation guide to match your measurements to the nearest half inch for the appropriate clamp extension setting. For this DuroMax model, we need position two. In your GenTent package, there’s a smaller hardware box with four slots in the cardboard insert for the GenTent clamps.
This setup will accommodate DuroMax models with blocked frame posts, leading to a slightly offset frame installation. Ensure that both clamps on the blocked frame leg corner and the opposite corner along the same width are set to the same height for a uniform installation that maintains strength and performs reliably in any weather.

Step 4: Install the GenTent Frame Rods
Align the long side of the center connector with the long side of the generator. To begin installing the GenTent frame rods, seat the rod all the way into the center connector, ensuring it is firmly against the center connector pin from the bottom channel. Insert one end of the rod into the clamp extension, making sure the pin is facing up. Then, insert the rod into the center connector for the opposite corner and guide it into the clamp extension on the other side with both hands. Repeat these steps for the remaining corners.
This setup will accommodate DuroMax models with blocked frame posts, leading to a slightly offset frame installation. However, both clamps on the blocked frame leg corner and the back corner along the same width should be set to the same height to ensure a uniform installation that maintains strength and performs well in any weather.
Step 5: Cover Your DuroMax Generator
Hold the canopy by the center of the top cap and place it over the frame rods, centering it on the center connector. Bring the corner elastic strap over the clamp extension and body, then secure it past the ring pin on the clamp. Avoid twisting the elastic strap, similar to the frame rod installation.
Move to the opposite corner to install the next canopy elastic, ensuring that both clamps and elastics are secure as you position each corner. Once all four corners are secured, do a final check to make sure the canopy is flush. Even with the slight offset, the GenTent will be secure and your generator will be protected.
