To find the appropriate clamp position for the extension setting, measure the length and width from frame post to frame post, excluding wheels and handles, as we mount directly to the vertical frame posts.

Blocked Frame or Need to Extend Frame?
Most generators do not need adaptation. Certain generator models may have multiple panels, welds, or crossbars that merge on a vertical frame post and obstruct clamp placement. Some smaller generators may require adaption to fit the GenTent models.
To find the appropriate measurements and number of extensions in the inverter settings, measure the length and width of the case, excluding wheels and handles, as we mount directly to the case. Ensure you have the appropriate size canopy for your inverter model. GenTent added the Inverter XL models in Summer of 2025.
Inverter Measurements
When installing Extender Arms, ensure you are optimizing your measurements to meet the needs of the canopy you have (Original or XL size). A maximum of three Extender Arms on any one corner will be used during normal setup and operation.
Measure the width and length of the generator frame to create an offset rectangle; add Extender Arms to achieve the target dimensions.
Original Size Model Dimensions: Width: 23”-25”, Length: 34”-36”.
XL Size Model Dimensions: Width: 27”-29”, Length: 41”-43”.
Walkthrough video on how to Properly Measure Your Inverter for the GenTent:
Angle the Extender Arms on the exhaust side outward. Add additional arms if the span is insufficient. The final arm adjustment should prioritize positioning the canopy edge as close as possible to allow the exhaust to escape, potentially requiring a slight slope with the exhaust side higher. This may also require the number of extension arms extended from the front and back to differ.
Install a GenTent on an Inverter with a High Vent or Exhaust
If your inverter has a high-mounted exhaust, install the Angle Braces at different heights—higher on the exhaust side—to create a sloped canopy. This ensures proper exhaust ventilation beneath the canopy edge. Use Extender Arms as needed and route the Kevlar® strap below the exhaust to maintain airflow.
GenTent canopies can safely protect two small inverter generators (typically 1,000–2,000 watts each) running in parallel under a single cover when used with the GenTent Inverter Extender Arms Kit. This kit expands the frame to create a stable, offset layout that fits both units side by side.
To ensure proper performance:
Use only compatible inverter models.
Position exhausts outward and allow space between units.
